Secondary Vocational Education in Hospitality
This diploma represents the completion of my Secondary Vocational Education in Hospitality at Leerhotel Het Klooster (MBO Amersfoort), a unique learning environment where students operate a fully functioning hotel. Throughout this program, I gained hands-on experience in various departments, including front office, F&B and events, while working according to professional industry standards.
The combination of practical training, structured learning and direct guest interaction provided me with a solid operational foundation and a strong sense of responsibility, teamwork and service excellence. This educational path has played an important role in shaping my professional identity and prepared me for the next step in my development at the Hotel Management School of NHL Stenden.
Advanced First Aid Certificate
This certificate shows that I completed theAdvanced First Aid for Babies, Children and Adults with the Netherlands Red Cross. In this training, I learned how to act in emergencies, such as checking someone’s condition, giving resuscitation and treating injuries.
Keeping this certificate up to date is important to me, because safety and care for others are part of my professional values. It means I can respond calmly and effectively if something happens to a guest or colleague.
Social Responsibility
This certificate reflects my understanding of the rules and responsibilities that come with working in hospitality, especially when it comes to serving alcohol and creating a safe environment for guests and colleagues. During the training, I learned how to recognise risks, make responsible decisions and contribute to a professional and secure atmosphere.
Social responsibility is an important part of hospitality, and this certification shows that I take these standards seriously and am committed to promoting safety and well-being in every work setting.
SDEN 1 Wine Certificate
This certificate shows that I successfully completed the SDEN 1 Wine Course, which provides essential knowledge about wine types, production methods and basic tasting techniques. During this course, I learned how to recognize different wine styles, understand the main grape varieties and advise guests in a confident and professional way.
Having this foundation allows me to contribute to a positive guest experience in any hospitality setting, especially in restaurants or hotels where wine plays an important role. It also reflects my interest in continuous learning and developing broader skills within the hospitality field.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
This certificate shows that I successfully completed the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People training, a program focused on personal leadership, responsibility and effective behavior. Through this training, I learned how to set clear priorities, work proactively, communicate more effectively and build strong, professional relationships.
The 7 Habits principles help me stay organized, take initiative and approach challenges with a positive and solution-focused mindset. These skills are valuable in both my studies and future hospitality career, especially in roles where teamwork, leadership and personal development are important.
Charity Dinner – Final MBO Project
As the final project of my Secondary Vocational Education in Hospitality, our class came together to organise a large-scale charity dinner at Leerhotel Het Klooster. It was a unique opportunity to apply everything we had learned—planning, organising, teamwork, creativity and high-level service—into one meaningful event.
For me personally, this project showed how inspiring it can be to work toward a shared goal within a motivated team. I enjoyed taking responsibility, keeping overview during busy moments and contributing to an evening where every detail mattered. Seeing all departments work together seamlessly was not only a great learning experience but also a moment of pride, knowing that we were creating something special.
Supporting Stichting Gaandeweg
The charity dinner was dedicated to supporting Stichting Gaandeweg, an organization that offers families with a child facing cancer the chance to spend time together and create positive memories. Knowing the impact this foundation has on peoples’ lives made the project even more meaningful.
Through a live auction, careful preparation and the generosity of everyone involved, we raised an incredible €12,950 in one evening. Contributing to this amount was a moment I will always remember. It showed me how powerful hospitality can be, not just in serving guests, but in bringing people together to make a real difference.
This project strengthened my motivation to work in an environment where teamwork, purpose and human connection come together.
